We always want our globally inspired recipes to reflect the diversity of our community, so last year we reached out to our local community to tell us about their favourite cultural dishes. Working in partnership with one of our child care partners, we developed our new Filipino Beef Giniling! Our giniling is packed with international flavour but also proudly features Ontario beef, pasture-raised without added hormones or routine antibiotics.
Giniling is a Tagalog word for ground meat. It refers to a dish made of ground meat with diced potatoes, vegetables and raisins simmered in tomato sauce with a variety of savoury seasonings. Balanced with the sweetness of raisins - this dish introduces a sweet & savoury flavour combination that we think your whole family will love.
Ingredients: pasture-raised extra lean ground beef, peas, carrots, water, non-gmo yukon gold potatoes, onions, white mushrooms, tomato paste (tomatoes), diced tomatoes (tomatoes, tomato juice, calcium chloride, may contain citric acid), nutritional yeast, raisins (sultana raisins, non-gmo sunflower oil), tamari (water, soybeans, salt, sugar, brewing starter), fresh garlic, non-gmo sunflower oil, spices, sea salt. Contains Soy.
Preparation Instructions: Thaw in fridge. Empty contents of package into a saucepan. Heat on medium heat, stirring occasionally simmering for 10 minutes covered until food reaches an internal temperature of 74°C/165°F. Enjoy!

our kids are not picky and love absolutely everything rfk produces (kudos to the team), however this was the first dish ever that was roundly rejected. both visually and flavour wise it is really not good.
Our toddler loved it and kept asking for more. It’s a bit on a plainer side in terms of flavour profile for my husband and I, but it was a good balance between something we enjoyed and something my toddler will eat. We served it with lentils and barley cooked in broth, on its own it would have been enough for 2 adults and a hungry toddler but not 4 adults for sure.
Delightful dish that tastes like what mom made when we lived in Laguna.
