Food Safety at the Real Food Kitchen

* The Real Food Kitchen is shellfish, sesame seed, peanut & tree-nut free.

Using innovative technology.

In addition to our current sanitation procedures we have recently included a Silicon dioxide (SiO2) coating to all our food contact and “high touch” areas. These coatings are biostatic so they resist the formation of microbial build up and has shown viral deactivation on surfaces.

SiO2 molecules form a matrix quartz glass barrier between the environment and the surface. SiO2 is the chief component in glass, and is found in vegetables, water and beer, and is considered a safe food additive by the FDA.

The safety of your food is our main priority.

The Real Food Kitchen employs Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards and is inspected by Toronto Public Health to ensure regulatory compliance. Our staff wear protective clothing (masks, gloves and professionally cleaned and issued uniforms) when preparing food. Our sanitation programs exceed FDA requirements. We train our staff on the 4 key steps of food safety—clean, separate, cook, and chill – to prevent foodborne illness.

Covid-19: Is my food safe?

Currently there is no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19. Unlike foodborne gastrointestinal (GI) viruses like norovirus and hepatitis A that often make people ill through contaminated food, SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, is a virus that causes respiratory illness. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

Our Super Drivers take precautions to ensure your food is delivered safely. All drivers wear surgical masks, gloves and eye protection. Gloves are sanitized in between each delivery and upon return to the Real Food Kitchen. Our drop-and-go delivery process also ensures social distancing recommendations are being followed.
